An inquest was held into the death of Robert Hill in 1844. He had drowned at Trebarwith while gathering limpets, which was a Good Friday tradition.
Did you know?
When people become a Bard of the Cornish Gorsedh, they choose a special Bardic name. This is usually in the Cornish language.
Cornish smuggler John Carter was an honest and religious man. When he broke into a Customs House to steal back his property, he left behind everything that wasn’t his own.
After being arrested in 1548, William Kilter was jailed at Launceston Castle. It’s said Kilter was so strong that he could lie on his back and throw a heavy stone over one of the castle’s towers.
